Area of Trapezoid Calculator

Trapezoid

 

A trapezoid is a 4-sided plane shape (a quadrilateral) that has two sides that are parallel. The longest parallel side is usually labeled B (for Base). The shortest parallel side is usually labeled b (for base). To calculate the area, you don't need to know the length of the non-parallel sides, but you do need to know the height.

The height is the length of a perpendicular line from one parallel side to the other parallel side. See the diagram above. The area of the trapezoid would be calculated using the formula A = (B+b)h/2.
