Four Free Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Website

As the economy and job market worsens, more and more people are turning to the internet to seek out ways to make income, either through network marketing, affiliate marketing, or both. Unfortunately, most people are under the impression that all they have to do is put up a website, sit back and watch the money roll in. Nothing could be further from the truth.

While having an attractive website is important, it means NOTHING without traffic. In other words, what good is an attractive website if no one to sees it? In fact, one of the biggest reasons that internet-based businesses fail is lack of quality traffic. Traffic is the lifeblood of any successful business, regardless if it is a network marketing business or a "traditional" business.

My goal in this article is to highlight 4 simple (yet effective) ways you can drive traffic to your website that that you don't need a budget for:

1. Optimize Your Website - One of the best ways to increase traffic to your website is to get ranked by the search engines. This is done by making sure keywords⁄phrases that you're trying to get ranked for are strategically placed in the HTML tags, in the content of the site and in the domain name. Many people think their websites are optimized for search engines, when in fact the majority are not. Keep in mind, that getting organically ranked takes some time but the traffic you'll get is well worth the wait.

2. Promote Your Website On Forums - By participating in related forums and engaging in conversations, you'll be able to build relationships with other people in the forums, brand yourself as an authority figure and increase the chances that people will click your link that's placed in your signature. This "link popularity" is awesome for your website ranking. Keep in mind, the one thing you should NEVER do is spam the forum or post unrelated garbage on the forum just so you can promote your link. This will most likely get you banned from the forum. At the very least, it will destroy your credibility with other forum members pretty quickly.

3. Get Into Article Marketing - Article Marketing is one of the best methods people use to drive traffic to their site. Article Directories let you put a link to your site in your resource box that people can click to get to your site. Besides the fact that writing and publishing articles brands you as an authority in your target niche, your articles can be republished by other people which results in your link being all over the internet.

4. Video Marketing - Video Marketing is a another great way to drive traffic to your site for several reasons. Besides being free, videos allow you to connect with your audience in a deeper way than you would in an article. In a video, your audience can hear your voice, your tonality, your excitement, etc. As always, make sure you're posting valuable content and information. By doing this, you'll brand yourself as an expert and drive targeted traffic, all at the same time.

Besides the ways I've listed above, there are still a ton of other ways to drive traffic. My suggestion to master at least one method of driving traffic to your website. Then supplement that method with two or three others. Don't try to master 10 different methods at one time or you may get overwhelmed. The key is to stay consistent with your marketing efforts. Before you know it, you'll have a ton of traffic coming to your site which will ultimately turn into leads for your business.
