Binary Number Subtraction Calculator

 Minuend:
Subtrahend:

Complement:
2's Complement:
Result:

To perform binary subtraction you can use either the carry method commonly used with decimal numbers, or you can use the 2's complement method commonly performed by computers. With the 2's complement method, rather than subtract, you add the 2's complement of the subtrahend. This calculator not only uses the 2's complement method but also, for educational purposes, displays the complement and 2's complement of the subtrahend.

Note: I have (arbitrarily) limited the input binary numbers to 12 digits. If you would like me to modify it to accept longer binary numbers, please contact me via this site's contact form.
