The Hunters - Cops. The Prey - YOU.
By Stephen Bucaro
Which activity do cops put the most effort into, serving and protecting the community or
hunting and arresting people? According to former police officer Dale Carson, almost all
police effort is put into hunting and arresting people. Serving and protecting the community
is way down on the priority list.
Cops enjoy the hunt, and their prey is human quarry. "Cops are hunters - period" writes
Carson in his new book "Arrest-proof Yourself". "When I was a cop ... my favorite activity
was breaking down doors." Two or more cops swing an iron ram, the lock explodes, and people
go running like cockroaches.

Dale Carson was a Miami cop who set records for felony arrests. He then became an FBI
agent and an instructor at the FBI academy. He is currently a criminal defense attorney in
Florida. His book tells you everything you need to know about how cops operate, the little
things that can get you arrested, and what you need to do to arrest-proof yourself.
At community meetings, politicians like to play down the hunt and arrest activity and play
up the serve and protect angle. The police, of course, are too busy arresting people out on
the street to attend community meetings. From the cops point of view, if you put enough
people in jail, peace and quiet will break out like roses on the vine.
Cops crave excitement. On slow days they'll use a technique called "flushing rabbits".
They get behind a car, pop on the strobe lights and tap the siren. If the driver in the
car in front of them has any violations or problems with police, they'll stomp on the gas
pedal and take off. The cops then call in for backup and the excitement begins.
Cops are like a gang. They display their blue collars with gang pride. If you challenge
one member of the gang, you have to deal with the entire gang. Cops are the biggest gang in
town. They're the gang with the most guns, the most money, and the most power. They're backed
up by helicopters, boats, tear gas, stun guns, dogs, snipers, SWAT teams. They're heavily
armed and trained for hundreds of hours to disable or kill people quickly, without thinking.
Cops have all the power. They can stop, search, attack, and even kill people. Cops are
immune to lawsuits. State and municipal employees have immunity from law suits. You can sue
the city, but not the individual cop. They are literally licensed to kill.
