How to Draw a Holiday Soldier Nutcraker
Nutcrackers in the form of wooden soldiers have been around since at least the 15th century.
These nutcrackers portray a soldier with a large mouth which the operator opens by lifting a
lever in the back of the figurine. Originally you could actually insert a nut in the mouth, press
down and crack the nut, but modern nutcrackers are substancial enough for cracking nuts
and now serve for Christmas decoration.

In the holiday season, you might be looking for holiday-themed inspirations to add
to cards, decorations and wrappings. This tutorial shows you how, in easy steps,
to draw a soldier nutcracker.

Draw a circle for the head.
1. Draw a circle for the head. At the bottom of the circle, draw a small rectangle.
Position half of the rectangle within the circle, and half out, as shown.
• Within the rectangle, draw a center line. This will be the
line that separates the teeth.
• Then draw three small, vertical lines, as shown.

Create the hat.
2. Create the hat. Add a thin, long rectangle on top of the circle. Above that,
draw a larger square, then a small circle.
