How To Fix AppHelp DLL Errors On Your PC By Greg Kahn

Apphelp.dll is a file used by Windows to help load up a series of important program-specific functions for your system. Whenever you boot up your PC, load up a program or use a Windows feature, the apphelp.dll file will be loaded to aid your system in the processes it needs to run. Although this file is highly important, it's continually causing a large number of errors which need to be repaired by using the tutorial on this page.

Typical Apphelp.dll errors will show in this format:

"Apphelp.dll Not Found"
"This application failed to start because apphelp.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
"Cannot find [PATH]⁄apphelp.dll"

The reason why this error shows is all down to the way in which Windows attempts to read the file. Every time you run an application or a feature on your PC, the file is being used to help load up a number of important functions. The likelihood of the problem you're seeing is that your system will somehow have either misplaced or damaged the file, leading your computer to run much slower and with a lot of errors. If you want to resolve this problem, it's recommended that you first ensure that the apphelp.dll file is located in the correct folder on your system and that your computer has all the correct files & settings which it uses to run.

The first step to fix this problem is to actually replace the file on your PC. This can be done by first downloading a replacement version of apphelp.dll from the Internet and then placing it into the C:/Windows/System32 folder of your computer. You'll have to replace the current version of this file, but will generally fix most of the issues you're seeing. This will then allow your computer to correctly read all the settings which your PC uses to run - which should resolve most cases of this error. If you do this and find the error is still showing, it's recommended that you then re-install any programs causing the problem.

The second step to fix this error is to then use what's known as a "registry cleaner" to repair any of the settings that Windows has that could be causing the problem you're seeing. Registry cleaners are popular tools for stopping DLL file errors, because of the way they are able to repair the problems that will typically cause these errors to show.

Every Windows PC stores a large list of DLL files inside the "registry database" of your PC - which allows your computer to read the files it requires to run from this central location. Unfortunately, the registry is continually being damaged and corrupted - leading your system to run much slower and with a lot of errors as a result. To fix this problem, you need to be able to repair any possible registry errors that your computer has by downloading, installing and then running a registry cleaner tool.
