Top Five Baby Items to Sell on eBay
By Suzanne Arant-Wells
When seeking products to sell on eBay, sellers must keep several criteria in mind. The
item must be relatively easy to find, easy to ship, and there must be a demand for the
item. Baby products are easy to find at garage sales, thrift stores, or new in retail
stores like Big Lots, Walmart, or Target. As a general rule, avoid reselling any baby item
that could compromise a baby's safety if the product is used such as car seats, strollers,
or walkers. Here are a few suggestions for baby products that sell well on eBay.
The Bumbo Baby seat is made of molded rubber-like plastic and is designed to help an
infant learn to sit up. Some of the Bumbo seats have a detachable tray so the chair can be
used as a feeding seat. This product can be found at garage sales and thrift stores for
less than $5. The retail price of a Bumbo seat is around $40. Used seats sell on eBay for
around $25. The Bumbo seat is easy to clean, does not have moving parts or safety issues,
and is easy to ship.
Your Baby Can Read is a learning system for infants that includes DVDs and flash cards.
The system comes in several levels for different developmental levels. When sold new, the
system includes the DVDs, flash cards, a parent's guide, and books. You can sell the
individual components separately on eBay. Your Baby Can Read items sell quickly when
priced competitively. You can find these items at thrift stores for just a few dollars each.
Breast pumps, kits, accessories, and parts are another good baby item to offer on eBay.
New mothers know how expensive these items can be when purchased new. Popular brands to
look for are Medela, Lansinoh, Evenflo, and Philips Avent. (eBay requires that used breast
pumps be cleaned well before selling.) Look for the actual breast pumps, shoulder and
carry bags, storage accessories (containers and plastic bags), adapters, and cooler bags.
Anything related to a breast pump is a good seller as long as it is in good condition.
Baby slings, carriers, wraps, backpacks, or other products that allow an adult to "wear
a baby" are good sellers on eBay. These fabric carriers are very easy to ship and won't
break in transit. Since babies grow so quickly, these items usually don't have the
opportunity to get much use and can be found in excellent condition at garage and yard
sales. The Kangaroo baby sling, Maya Wrap, and Baby Bjorn are popular brands. Also look
for items made from organic cotton for ultimate comfort for both baby and parent. Items
that can be easily washed in the washing machine will sell the best.
Another popular seller is the baby monitor. Look at off-price stores like Big Lots,
Tuesday Morning, and TJ Maxx for these items on sale for much cheaper than retail. Because
of advances in technology, some models of baby monitors include a video function as well
as audio. Popular brands to look for are Angelcare, Summer, and Philips Avent. If buying
used, make sure to test the monitor to make sure it works before you make the purchase.
Selling baby products on eBay can be a lucrative business is you are able to identify
buyer demand and buying trends. Maybe you have some of these items in your home right now
and didn't realize they have value on eBay.
